An Issue with Life

Posted: February 16, 2010 in Page 5: Structures in Life

Dimensions: 73 by 61 cm, framed.
Media: Paint on wood panel, with wood structure.

The theme of the Structures in Life series has an L structure of wood as its master element–simple, pure, and attractive, yet upended in respect to the surface/support, imperfect in this respect and confined to an imperfect world. This one is set off by lively L forms but has a black focal point at issue with them.

Note: the black focal point was added due to the valuable experience that the artist had in his early years doing photography. When doing black and white photography, one learns that one of the most beautiful aspects is when the photograph has pure black and pure white in it–with a complete range of greys in between.
